How much is awarded? NOAC has committed to one $500 award annually starting in Fall 2007. Who is eligible? A Louisiana resident who will start Auburn University in the Fall following graduation of high school. The high school must be in one of the following parishes: Jefferson, Orleans, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, St. Charles, Plaquemines, Terrebonne, and Lafourche. My child’s high school is not located in any of the eligible parishes. The scholarship includes all parishes that the Office of Alumni Affairs designates in the New Orleans Auburn Club territory. Your child is probably in the territory of the Baton Rouge Area Auburn Club. Who selects the award recipient? Auburn University Are there any other criteria? The scholarship is based on financial need and academic standards set by Auburn University. Preference is given to incoming freshmen. What is the duration of the scholarship? A student will be selected each year, although a previous recipient is still eligible (in the case there are no freshmen who are eligible). Does my son or daughter have any advantage if I an Alumnus? Legacies do not have an advantage, however, the Auburn Alumni Association has scholarships in which children of Lifetime Members are eligible. Can I give more to the scholarship? Can the club award more? Yes and Yes. You may donate above and beyond your dues in any amount you choose. We may donate more than $500 if we raise more. Checks can be written to the Auburn University Foundation and note that it is for the New Orleans Auburn Club scholarship. What are other Auburn Clubs doing around the country? Many clubs have scholarships and have various fundraisers throughout the year. What about an endowed scholarship? Endowed scholarships allow a club to use interest from an investment (that has already reached $25K) to fund the annual scholarship. Currently, Auburn Clubs who commit to an endowed scholarship must raise $25,000 within 5 years. |
